StormyA little about Stormy:While a volunteer at a small country shelter in WA state, I met Stormy. He had just arrived at the shelter and a staff called me and said they had received a "difficult" dog. No one could get near him as he growled, barked and tried to bite the staff. I remember that day; it was Labor day of 2001, rainy and dark. It sounded like Stormy had a rough time during his first couple years of life as, the story goes, Stormy was tied in a barn and was being teased by some young people. I wanted to see how he was doing and took some hot dogs to the shelter. The staff was right; "Copper" (his original name), was barking, growling and trying to bite me. I could tell it was out of fear and not because he was vicious. I went into his kennel and gave him a hot dog. That was it. He was hooked and so was I. I took him home as I did not want him to be fearful any longer. I named him Stormy as he had a stormy beginning and the fact that the day was stormy as well. He had been a protector, a companion and a goofy friend for 11 years. Stormy's favorite things: Until we meet again, my goofy friend |
